12 Aug Mindset Mastery: Do It Everyday
Last night the Olympic torch was extinguished, bringing to an end the Paris 2024 Olympic games. Today, thousands upon thousands of athletes will head home to their respective countries—some with gold, some with silver, and some with bronze. While many will head home without a medal, all will leave with the most important achievement of all: being an Olympian in the Paris 2024 XXXIII Olympiad. While you and I watched, cheered, and even judged from our armchairs, these competitors who represented almost every category of sports showed us the power of talent, training, courage, confidence and most of all – discipline. Medal or no medal, to be an Olympian on the world stage of competition is to already be a champion. Because what you do every day matters more than what you do once in a while.
The Distance Between You and Your Dreams When I knew it was time to put an end to the burnout and lack of fulfillment I was feeling in my career I created a vision board. I knew that having a visual image of where I wanted to go would help me avoid creating more of what I already had. I collected powerful words and images that reflected exactly what I felt in my heart and yearned to have more of in my life. But it wasn’t just any old vision board. It was a vision board with a story. I went on retreat to get still and get quiet so that I could write a clear and powerful vision and mission statement for the next chapter in my life. Not only did it bring my heart a great deal of satisfaction to put affirming words and images together, it gave my mind a clear written roadmap for disciplined action. Discipline is self-awareness. It’s knowing your strengths, your weaknesses, and even your blind spots. It’s admitting to yourself that there’s always room for improvement in your daily habits because what you do every single day is more important than what you do once in a while. Discipline is self-motivation. It’s knowing what your goals are and lighting an internal flame that pulls you into action to do what needs to be done to achieve your goals even though (and especially) when you don’t feel like doing it. Discipline is self-control. It’s knowing that you deserve a life without regrets and excuses. It’s knowing that for everything you say YES to, you are inherently saying NO to something else. Discipline is making a commitment to show up for yourself even when showing up feels hard. Discipline is doing what it takes everyday to close the gap between who you are now and the victory you want to celebrate tomorrow.
What I want you to remember this week Reader is that the distance between your dreams and the reality of achievement is discipline. I believe it’s time for all of us to be Olympians in our own private lives. Time to make the commitment to our dreams so that we can feel the joy of thriving, not just surviving. I’d love to work with you one on one in a calm, supportive, nurturing environment on retreat this September. We have 2 waterfront suites remaining in the quiet, serene oasis of Bacalar Mexico to help you gain the clarity, courage, and confidence you need to post the wins you want in your life this year. This year I’m teaching my guests how to write a powerful story board that makes your vision board come alive.
Reserve a private spot during my MINDSET MASTERY COMMUNITY OFFICE HOURS tonight. We’ll take a few minutes to chat about where you’d like to go in life and what’s making it hard for you to move forward. Send me a message @ care@sevahealthgroup.com and say “Angel, reserve a spot for me” and I’ll send you the Zoom link. Can’t make it tonight, no problem. Send me a message anyway and say, “Angel, I am ready to make my vision a reality” and we’ll schedule a time this week that works for you.
In the meantime, here’s a simple visualization to work with today: Imagine yourself a year from now living the life you really want. What are you wearing? Where are you living? What are your weekly routines and wellness habits? What accomplishments are you celebrating? Feel the excitement in knowing that the story that’s been holding you back has set you free. Feel the joy you will have in knowing that one simple shift changed the entire direction of your life and write those heart centered feelings in your journal. Don’t let your mind talk you out of taking action to achieve the joy and fulfillment you deserve. Reserve your spot, and decide right now that you are worthy of the life you’ve been dreaming of. Because you are. Be well. Be love(d). Be good to yourself, |
