Mindset Mastery: Believing Bigger, Having Better

Hello friend,

A few weeks ago I ran into a former patient of mine from my very first job as a nurse practitioner. At first glance she looked familiar but since I couldn’t place a name I simply smiled and headed for the counter to pay for my gas.

“Angel!” she said, smiling. “Remember me? You used to see me at your office in Columbia!”

Then I remembered.

Yes, she was one of my late afternoon patients who I always enjoyed seeing and was also one of my earliest success stories as a diabetes educator. It was a real pleasure watching her eliminate not one but three of her medications in the diabetes education program I had designed.

Carla! It’s so great to see you! You look fantastic!” I said. We quickly fell into conversation about our families and my current practice, briefly holding up the line then parted after a warm embrace.

As I drove away I remembered those days as if they were yesterday – how rewarding it felt to have achieved my goal to become a nurse practitioner and yet how disappointed and frustrated I felt at the same time.

In my interview the owner had promised me gold: an office of my own, completely stocked with everything I needed for the diabetes education and nutrition classes I wanted to teach and the exam room directly adjacent to make it easier to conduct my patient consultations. The salary he’d quoted fell right in line with market rates for my experience level.

On my first day on the job I opened the door to what felt like a box full of coals on Christmas day: a cramped office that I had to share with someone else, piles of paper charts that needed to be shredded (that apparently no-one had time to shred), an worn out desk, a refurbished computer, and a wobbly chair facing a stained white wall.

This was absolutely NOT what I’d had in mind.

Each request I made for what had been promised to make my work-life better was met with an “Oh sure, we’ll get to it” promise that never came to fruition. The office was a reflection of the larger chaos within the entire company.

I had one decision to make: I could either stay and chalk it up or resign and look for another position.

It took less than 90 days for me to realize that if I decided to settle for less no one was going to stop me.

It was up to me to believe bigger in order to have better.

What I want you to remember this week Reader is that you deserve what you desire.

If you want more time in your life to exercise and cook healthy meals, you can have it.

If you want a career that makes you feel a sense of pride, purpose, and fulfillment, you can have it.

If you want to be paid what you are worth, you can have it.

It’s only the self-sabotaging voice in your mind that tells you that you can’t; the smaller voice that says you haven’t earned it, you aren’t worthy of it, or that you should be grateful for what you already have.

For Your Practice

A common trait of highly successful people is their clarity of focus and knowing exactly what they want, why they want it and how they will know when they find it.

Unlike millions of people who wake up every morning hoping they win the lottery, successful people realize that hope is not a strategy and, in fact, it’s only a way to avoid the harder work of clearly defining what it is that you really want.

When you can define exactly what it is, down to the smallest detail of what you desire to achieve, then you can begin to work on an action plan towards achieving it.

Clarity is rocket fuel.

As we approach the last 90 days of 2024, I’m inviting you to get traction on the important health and wellness goals you have for your life and creating a plan to get there.

Reserve a private spot during my MINDSET MASTERY COMMUNITY OFFICE HOURS tonight.

We’ll take some time to pinpoint the exact self-sabotaging thoughts that have been generating the most negative emotions and sabotaging your potential for a happier and healthier life.

Just click REPLY and say “Angel, reserve a complimentary call for me” and I’ll send you the appointment link.

In the meantime, let the Power of Clarity work for you by doing the following during your quiet journal time today:

Imagine yourself a year from now living the life you truly want.

What decisions have you made that led you in the right direction?

What have you eliminated so that you can start feeling more energized and empowered?

Feel the excitement in having a life of clear, purpose-filled strategy fueled by simple, daily actions.

Feel the joy you will have in knowing that one simple shift changed the entire direction of your life.

Next, write those heart centered feelings in your journal.

Don’t let the self-sabotaging thoughts in your mind talk you out of taking action to achieve the joy and fulfillment you deserve.

BOOK YOUR TIME SLOT NOW or just click REPLY if that’s easier.

Either way, decide right now that you are worthy of the life you’ve been dreaming of Reader. Because you are.

Be well. Be love(d). Be good to yourself,
