15 Jul Mindset Mastery: Know Your Worth
A few years ago, I was sitting in an airport restaurant waiting for a connecting flight back home. A country song titled What’s A Girl Like You Doing In A Place Like This? came over the restaurant radio as I was waiting for my order. At first I paid little attention to it and then after a few minutes I put the title in Google to find out more. It turns out that the song was written and sung by Jim Ed Brown, published in 1968 on his album, This Is My Beat. In just two minutes and ten seconds, Brown sings these short verses: What’s a girl like you doing in a place like this? What’s a girl like you wasting your time for? So if I ask just once again it’s because I don’t understand If you’re anything like me I’ll bet that at some point in your life you’ve asked yourself the same question: what am I doing in a place (or situation) like this?
What I want you to remember this week, Reader is that power and worth go hand in hand. Knowing your worth is what gives you the power to start making life happen for you, not to you. When you know the power of your words, you choose them carefully and you won’t just say anything. When you know the power of your thoughts, you choose them intentionally and you won’t just think or believe anything. When you know the power of your presence, you choose where you belong and you won’t just be anywhere. This week I want you to choose words, thoughts, people, and places that are a reflection of your true worth. This week I want you to remember one simple thing: You have the power to choose, which means you have the power to change. Not feeling fulfilled in your career? Invest your time and energy in learning new skills. Not feeling valued in your relationships? Invest your time and energy in meeting new people. Not feeling confident about the next stage of your life? Invest your time and energy in getting clear.
