Throughout their lives, month-to-month, and even daily, women experience a cycle of changes in their sex hormones. The ‘biological clock’ influences other areas of health, including behavior and mood. During the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle, some women experience pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS). This occurs during the second half of the cycle just prior to menstruation when progesterone and estrogen levels increase and then suddenly drop.
