03 Mar Mindset Mastery: Clear The Way
Can you believe we’re only 17 days away from Spring? I don’t know about you but I am so ready for a new season. If winter is about rest, spring is definitely about renewal and realignment.
As a gardener, I know that before you see a single bloom, there’s a process happening beneath the surface. Seeds must be planted, soil nourished, and roots strengthened before new life emerges. Growth isn’t instant—it’s a result of small, consistent actions over time. And the same is true for us.
“The biggest changes we see in our lives are rooted in the smallest habits…”
Think about that for a moment. The way we begin our mornings, the words we speak to ourselves, the food we choose to nourish our bodies—all of these seemingly small decisions shape the direction of our lives.
- If we want more energy, we start by choosing foods that fuel us rather than drain us.
- If we want more clarity, we begin by reducing mental clutter—whether that’s excessive screen time, negative self-talk, or toxic relationships.
- If we want more peace, we cultivate it through mindfulness, movement, and meaningful connections.
If it’s just that simple, why does it feel so hard?
Creating new habits is simple in theory—small, daily actions repeated over time. But in practice, it’s hard because we’re always up against our own minds. Self-sabotage isn’t always loud; sometimes, it whispers. It tells us we’ll start tomorrow, that we’re too busy, that one small slip means we’ve failed. Our brains crave familiarity, even when it keeps us stuck. Real change happens when we recognize these patterns, call them out, and choose to move forward anyway—one small step at a time.

What I’ve learned as a gardener is that new growth requires new requires new conditions.
A plant won’t thrive if it’s stuck in depleted soil, choked by weeds, or deprived of sunlight. The same is true for us. Self-sabotage is like poor soil—it keeps us stuck, unable to take root in the habits we need to grow. If we want to flourish, we have to nurture the right environment, clear out what no longer serves us, and give ourselves the space to thrive. Change isn’t about willpower alone—it’s about creating the right conditions for success, one small shift at a time.
This week, I’d love for you to ask yourself: What small habit can I shift today that will plant the seed for a greater transformation tomorrow? Maybe it’s adjusting your morning routine, swapping a processed snack for something nourishing, or setting aside a few minutes for stillness. Whatever it is, just remember that these little choices—repeated over time—will lead to big shifts in your life.
Mindset Mastery Action Step: Break Through What’s Holding You Back
Change doesn’t happen just because we want it—it happens when we recognize what’s standing in our way and actively choose to move beyond it. If you’ve struggled to create new habits in the past, ask yourself: What’s really stopping me?
Take a few minutes to journal on these three prompts:
- What is one habit I know would improve my life, but I’ve struggled to commit to? What excuses or self-sabotaging thoughts have kept me from following through?
- When I imagine myself a year from now, having already made this change, how do I feel? What does my daily life look like?
- What small, manageable step can I take today to break the cycle of hesitation and move closer to the life I want?
