It Started with a Chance Meeting in a T’ai Chi Class…

In 2014, I was at a breaking point. I was working in a high-volume medical practice, drowning in paperwork, and feeling the heavy weight of burnout. I had children to support and bills to pay, so “just quitting” wasn’t an option. I was searching for a sign.

I found it in a T’ai Chi class.

There, I met a woman named Janine. She told me about a role that combined my love for seniors, nutrition, and herbal medicine. It was a position as a Nurse Practitioner performing medication management for patients with dementia.

The Reality Most People Don’t See

My days were spent managing the hardest parts of neurological decline: the anxiety, the behavioral dyscontrol, and the heartbreaking “early-onset” cases where lives were cut short just as they were supposed to be hitting their prime. I saw the kicking, the biting, and the confusion—but I also saw the families. I saw their desperation for answers, for education, and for a way to stop the clock.

But I also saw something else: Hope.
